Biography: Gemma Holgate is a Techne-funded PhD candidate at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her thesis explores the relationship between politics, gender and emotion in socialist women’s writing between 1880 and 1939, with a particular focus on the concepts of sympathy and care. Between January 2022 and January 2023, she was the Editor-in-Chief of Romance, Revolution and Reform, and produced Issue 5: 'Radical Thinking in the Long Nineteenth Century'.
